Latex Care Information
General care instructions for latex products
The following instructions should help you enjoy your products for as long as possible. Latex clothing and latex sheets have some special properties that you should take into account. Ultimately, everything is very simple:
- Be careful with sharp objects and long fingernails or even jewelry. These can damage the latex very easily. Handle latex carefully, especially when putting it on and taking it off. Latex can also tear easily if it gets caught on objects.
- Keep your latex items away from sunlight, heat, cigarettes and impure metals (especially copper). These can leave unsightly stains and damage the material. Stainless steel is the better choice
- Body fats, as well as natural-based oils and perfumes, can damage latex severely. Therefore, always use water-based lubricants if necessary and silicone oil for care. This is not a greasy oil and is the right care product for your latex.
Dressing and Undressing
- The best way to put on latex clothing is either with talcum powder or oil (silicone oil). It works best if the skin also gets a little talcum or oil. It’s up to you, which option you choose. The advantage of silicone oil is that no talcum residue collects on transparent areas and on the inside of the clothing. Never use natural oils!
- You can make the surface shine with latex polishes that you can spray on and rub in gently, as well as with silicone spray. Liquid silicone oil is also suitable.
- Caution: The silicone oil can make smooth floors very slippery!
Cleaning and Storage
- Latex clothing should be washed by hand in lukewarm soapy water after each wear. There are also special care products for latex.
- You can then hang the washed latex loosely and turn it over occasionally to avoid stains. Water stains can be easily removed with a towel or a little silicone oil.
- When the pieces are dry, you can either spread some powder on the inside and some latex polish on the outside so that nothing sticks together. Alternatively, you can prepare the pieces ready-to-wear with silicone oil on both sides if you don’t want to use talcum powder.
- Always store your latex items in dark places, if necessary, in dark protective bags. Sunlight can damage the material and cause unsightly stains, which is why you should always make sure that they are securely sealed. There are also special care products if a stain does occur.
Further Tips and Recommendations
- Latex absorbs odors very quickly, this applies to both body odors and cigarette smoke, for example. This is completely normal and can be reduced somewhat by washing them by hand regularly.
- Latex is a natural product. Accordingly, it can change over time. However, with good care, you should be able to enjoy it for a long time.
Repair Options
Some damage can be repaired. We are happy to undertake these repairs for items of clothing from our production and are happy to make you a cost-effective offer outside of the statutory warranty period, provided that the repair is economically feasible.
- In such a case, do not use any kind of polish or oil after washing. Be particularly careful so that the damage does not increase.
- Contact us before sending us an item for repair so that we can discuss options and possible costs in advance
- You can of course also repair your items yourself; there are extensive explanations for this on the Internet. Please note, however, that in this case any warranty provided by us will expire. However, we are still happy to provide advice and assistance.
- Unfortunately, we cannot provide a warranty for products made by third parties from our materials.
Warning Notes
We expressly point out that all goods are only to be used for their intended purpose. Products made of latex must never be pulled over the head, as this can hinder breathing. Therefore, be careful when putting on and taking off over the head.
Latex can cause allergic reactions! You should clarify whether you have an allergy before ordering. In rare cases, allergies to latex and leather can lead to respiratory and circulatory reactions, as well as severe reddening of the skin. Be careful if you are unsure and clarify this beforehand!
We accept no responsibility for physical injury, damage to health or other damage of any kind caused by improper use of the goods. The provisions of the Product Liability Act remain unaffected.
Special Information on Latex Allergy:
A latex allergy is a special reaction of the body to harmless proteins and additives (allergens). The immune system mistakenly considers these substances to be harmful pathogens. Both inhaling latex fumes (e.g. from paint) and skin contact with latex cause the body to release certain antibodies.
The antibodies fight the allergens, which can lead to problems on the skin and respiratory tract.
Latex contains around 15 proteins to which people can react.
Typical symptoms can include itching, redness, herpes, shortness of breath or irritated eyes. An allergic shock (anaphylactic shock) is also possible – in this case, emergency medical treatment is required immediately.
To be sure that this allergy does not affect you, you should first have a doctor examine you before you consider buying latex products. A simple allergy test offers you safety here.
If you have mild allergies, you can try chlorinated latex as an option. This is considered to be less allergenic and can help. It is best to seek medical advice immediately if this applies to you.
